First of all, the StradicHG is an
excellent, well made reel. In both cases, it's the same reel. The 3000 comes
with a little larger spool to accommodate more line. Either reel will work
fine. I have one of each; the 2500 is spooled with 8 lb braided line, the 3000
with 10 lb braid.

there is no much difference for the
weight is just have more capacity for the line. Personally I would recommended
the 3000 because later on you have more option if you want to use braid or
mono.

I don't know much about reels, but I bought this product based on reviews and because it's a new model for the year. Well, spent hours using it to fish for king salmon and I have nothing negative to say about it. Worked great and I landed a few salmon with it so kuddos to Shimano because I'm a happy customer. Looks really nice and had a lot of positive comments from others on the river.

Can't wait to get to Georgia coast in 3 weeks to use my new Stradic C3000HG. This is one smooth reel. Already spooled it with 10lb braided line. Spools on perfectly. This is a high end Shimano reel. Not THE highest but for my purposes (mostly inshore saltwater), it'll be perfect.
