First of all, the StradicHG is an excellent, well made reel. In both cases, it's the same reel. The 3000 comes with a little larger spool to accommodate more line. Either reel will work fine. I have one of each; the 2500 is spooled with 8 lb braided line, the 3000 with 10 lb braid.

there is no much difference for the weight is just have more capacity for the line. Personally I would recommended the 3000 because later on you have more option if you want to use braid or mono.

I don't know much about reels, but I bought this product based on reviews and because it's a new model for the year. Well, spent hours using it to fish for king salmon and I have nothing negative to say about it. Worked great and I landed a few salmon with it so kuddos to Shimano because I'm a happy customer. Looks really nice and had a lot of positive comments from others on the river.

Can't wait to get to Georgia coast in 3 weeks to use my new Stradic C3000HG. This is one smooth reel. Already spooled it with 10lb braided line. Spools on perfectly. This is a high end Shimano reel. Not THE highest but for my purposes (mostly inshore saltwater), it'll be perfect.

what is good thing?
1) It is very light.
2) very smooth.
3) no noise
4) it can help you to improve distance of  throw bait.
